With all this excitement over my new Nook and of course I have been using my Droid for a long time now it’s clear to at least me that I love my Android devices. I thought after this long with playing with all these toys I would write something quick to share what I think are my favorite and most necessary Android apps. I’m sure there’s a million of these post out everywhere by now but there’s got to be more room on the internet for just one more.
I decided to split my app reviews into a couple of categories. Since I recently rooted my Droid, I figured I would do the most useful apps for a stock device, a rooted Android and also apps as far as tablets go. This is the first installation which will feature my favorite apps on a stock android phone. I don’t think it is going to make much of a difference but I do have a Droid so I’m sorry if some of the apps don’t work exactly the same on the rest of your phones.
Stock Android Devices:
TweetDeck
I think a lot of people know I like myself some social networking and TweetDeck is probably the best way to get it done. I’ve used a couple different apps for Twitter and Facebook but TweetDeck takes the cake. I love the way that it can take all of my feeds, Twitter, Facebook and FourSquare and throw them all into one list. Makes it really easy to get all the information I need on one, small phone screen.
c:geo
It may just be me but GeoCaching is really fun. It doesn’t get much geekier than this but it also gets a person outside and enjoying nature. By far the easiest way to go GeoCaching is by using c:geo. With this app, you don’t have to plan before hand which caches you are going to go to but you can look in real time at which caches are near and instantly be going for whichever one you want. For me, this is an amazing app that can help me kill time and have fun all day.
Angry Birds
Need I say more? One of the most popular games right now and coming in all different flavors including the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds: Seasons and as of right now, the Amazon Appstore exclusive Angry Birds: Rio.
GTasks
In an attempt to keep myself as organized as possible, I like to use Google Tasks. GTasks is my Android companion app that even has a wonderful homescreen widget that keeps me up-to-date on everything I have been procrastinating on for too long. This app has a free with ads as well as a pay version so take your pick.
RingDroid
And of course, everyone likes to have some custom ring tones. This is definitely the way to do it. Open up any media you have on your phone and quick cut a ring tone and make use of it. Very quick and very easy to use.
Well, those are some of my favorite apps on my Droid. What are yours? Do you have any apps that are definite must haves that aren’t up here? Let me know in the comments or on our Facebook Wall, @Tech_Blender or @DevonSchreiner.
