Story time: Katie and I have been saving money for quite a long time to be able to go back to the Turks and Caicos to relive our honeymoon. Way back in May of this year, we officially scheduled out return trip and have been eagerly awaiting and preparing. Unfortunate circumstances have fallen on us and everyone down in the Caribbean as the recent and continuing hurricane’s have done quite a number on the area. Hours and hours of phone calls went out to the resort, Travelocity, and Delta all while trying to figure out what has happened, what’s going to happen, and what if anything we could do to help.
Long story short, our entire itinerary was cancelled and fully refunded to us just over two weeks before we were originally supposed to leave. Something we weren’t really expecting to happen and didn’t really prepare for. I looked over at Katie and said we’ve got a decision to make. Do we postpone our trip to the Turks and Caicos by who knows how many months, or do keep our currently requested time off work and try to find a new destination?
As Kurt Vonnegut put it so perfectly in his book Cat’s Cradle, “Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God”. We decided to do something a little bit different and are finally going to check a few boxes off our bucket list. We have decided to take our newly acquired refund and put it towards a trip to Ireland!
We’re embracing these peculiar travel suggestions, changing up our expectations, and excited to experience a country and culture neither of us has ever encountered before. So look forward to many pictures and posts coming in the near future that include a lot of green and Guinness. If you have any suggestions we’d love to hear them.
