Apple And Verizon Finally Meet

I’m sure you’ve heard already but this morning, Apple and Verizon Wireless announced a partnership that is bringing the iPad to VZW stores on October 28th. As of right now, I’m still trying to figure out if this is a good thing or not, whether I am happy or sad. Verizon and Apple are working together but was this their big secret? Are they going to announce a new iPhone for Verizon next?

Now the iPad is not going to be completely compatible with Verizon’s network which means that there will be no 3G iPads sold. The thought right now is that it will be sold in conjunction with Verizon’s MiFi 2200 Mobile Hotspot in three different packages:

  • the iPad Wi-Fi 16GB for $630
  • the iPad Wi-Fi 32GB for $730
  • the iPad Wi-Fi 64GB for $830

Verizon customers will also be offered a 1GB plan for $20 a month or the standard 5GB’s for $60 a month.

There are definitely a couple reasons I am happy about this. First, I am just glad that Apple and Verizon are working together. This is hopefully just the start of a great relationship and hopefully multiple more relationships for Apple. Also, amid all of the iPhone to Verizon rumors, hopefully this is not what was brewing. I am still holding out for an iPhone. If I get an iPad it will be without the 3G or Verizon’s MiFi anyways.

Overall, I think this is a step in the right direction, even if this step looks like it went a little left. Hopefully the next step is an iPhone for all of the users that have been waiting for one.

What do you think of this collaboration? Do you think Verizon is getting an iPhone? Let me know in the comments, @DevonSchreiner, @InflectoVita or on our Facebook Page.
